PROJECT TITLE: Yeti Partner Study
MY ROLE: Development, Brand Identity, Packaging, Illustration, Layout
PROJECT DURATION: 6 Months
TOOLS USED: Procreate, Illustrator, Photoshop
TARGET AUDIENCE: Young community members from marginalized backgrounds, individuals who use injection drugs and need social support to navigate healthcare (welcoming and cool)
THE BRIEF/OBJECTIVE:
The Yeti Partner study serves marginalized groups by providing evidence-based interventions and continuously reviewing progress to identify areas for improvement through regular collection and use of local data related to hepatitis C. They work to end stigma about hepatitis C and people living with hepatitis C. The main inspiration was a Yeti, symbolizing someone who may seem rough around the edges but has much to offer once given the chance.
PROCESS:
Research and Discovery: The client provided the Yeti from Monsters Inc. as inspiration. The brand was influenced by the client's feedback of "rough around the edges," and we aimed to reflect that in the logo. I did a lot of research on other animated yetis to study their fur.
Concept Development: All sketches were done in Procreate and cleaned up in Illustrator. Significant focus was spent on the texture of the fur that we wanted to show in the font. We wanted the fur to appear welcoming, therefore we went with softer edges.
The map was started with the idea to help the partners of the participants navigate the treatment. We wanted something interactive and uplifting. I came up with the concept of putting the steps on a ski lift after a trip to Mt. Charleston.
Client Collaboration: Regular emails and proofs were exchanged with the client to ensure alignment and incorporate feedback throughout the process.
Kind Words by Client: Kathy’s work blew me and my team away! Our clinical research study wanted to create a logo and intervention materials that were colorful, welcoming, and professional. Kathy’s creativity, skill, and willingness to iterate and grow with our design goals was so appreciated and made the process not only enjoyable, but more expansive and exciting than we could have thought. I would recommend unequivocally – for any type of project! Looking forward to seeing the great work this artist and designer chooses next!
